With ±, Ali Moini takes us through the discovery of a series of plastic, musical and imaginary scenes. He moves through constellations in an always evolving costume-scenography and gives form, universe to universe, to several characters and atmospheres all different to one another…
The choreography and the singing give way to an adventurous journey, and to a radical introspection.
“As a choreographer with a history in theater and music, choreography is infinite to me. I do not feel bound to respect limits, in any way. This is the origin of my predilection for Pasolini: a self-taught cinema artist, he created as the volcano creates lava, in any shape and matter. Some of his works are still burning, others are not anymore.
This is what I liked more about studying his work. This is also what inspires me to use all my creativity, rather than merely reinterpret his artistic process, to give birth to my own stories.”
– Ali Moini
± was supposed to premiere on the 16 and 17th of November 2020. Due to the sanitary crisis, the premiere eventually took place on the 19 and 20th of February 2021, at the Espace Pasolini in Valenciennes, within the framework of NEXT TIME festival.
