Plus One is a performance about intimacy for one viewer at a time. It offers the playful action of recreating a puzzle with the artist. The image that appears inside our eyes is the prerequisite for a conversation about conviviality, loneliness, isolation, affinity, confidentiality, among other topics.
This performance was thought of during lockdown. For Sophie Guisset, making puzzles was a central activity, a sort of mental escape during the period of isolation. It had therapeutic virtues, a way to focus her mind on a task at hand to get her thoughts in order. As the days go by and from her concentration she was able to find a missing piece just by a small detail. By sharing time with only one spectator at a time, she creates a intimate relationship with a stranger, until a subtly erotic tension emerges between the hands and the eyes, in search of an additional part.
Sophie Guisset is a Belgian dance maker and performer, born in
