HYMEN HYMNE

With Hymen hymn, the choreographer Nina Santes immerses us in the figure of the witch. This figure is an ode to difference: the one that frightens or reassures, this woman collectively designated and condemned, or, on the contrary, proclaiming herself as such.

Between a magical ritual and an immersive performance, this creation for five performers attempts to explore social archetypes as well as ways to escape them. What would a contemporary witch be? Nina Santes met with different people at the four corners of the world to feed her research and try to draw the outlines of this silhouette with many faces. The character of the witch summons fantasies and realities, between threat to social order and memory of feminist struggles. Crossing a documentary approach with a quasi-anthropological study around magic and its rituals, the choreographer chooses to create a dialogue between the bodies and the voices of the performers in an inclusive and outlet choreography.
