The magnificent actress Stephanie Aflalo invites us to a performative conference. Here she duplicates, one on stage and the other on the screen of a television. These two images of herself have fun, play with words, and lead us into to a philosophy lecture we come out from joyously full of uncertainties.

These two figures of the same person will engage us in a enterprise of excessive clarification, consisting in establishing a careful, exhaustive, definitive inventory of what we can say and what we cannot, what has meaning and what does not, put in concrete situations and supporting examples, with the modest goal of overcoming all problems of philosophy. Funny because it’s dry, insane by excess of seriousness, this totalizing and impossible rationalist project will be carried out with humor, by virtue of the absurd, to the point of bankruptcy, leaving room for song and music at the last minute.

 

Biography(s)

Stéphanie Aflalo

At the same time as her theatrical training, Stéphanie Aflalo studied philosophy, dedicating her memoirs to Nietzsche and Battle. She has acted under the direction of Marion Chobert (L’éveil du printemps), Maya Peillon (Insenso), Milena Csergo (Et qu’on regarde l’heure, il est toujours midi), Hugo Mallon (Minuit Cinquante, L’éducation sentimentale), Yuval Rozman (Tunnel Boring Machine, The Jewish Hour) and Florian Pautasso : Quartet Violence, Unbelievable Irreasonable Impossible Kiss, Flirting, You’ll Go Get Her, Our Home, Loretta Strong, The Losers, and soon Zoo. She has staged Howard Barker’s Graves épouses/animaux frivoles, Lettres Mortes (letters from psychiatric inmates and last words from death row inmates), and two solos: Histoire de l’œil, adapted from the novel by Georges Bataille, and Jusqu’à présent, personne n’a ouvert mon crane pour voir s’il y avait un cerveau dedans, written and conceived from the thoughts of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. As a singer-songwriter, she has created the music for several shows and a short film (A terre, by Bruno Barradat), and is also working on a hybrid musical project, both parodic and lyrical, intertwining rap and electronic music.
