In her latest creation, Nina Santes invites us to discover a choreographic and musical work that explores the zombie state, in the sense of numbness of time, body, and the idea of space.

Shaped by colonial violence, the Zombie is both an alienated victim and a cannibal, master and slave, both grotesque and terrifying. It is a wandering body, without borders nor geographies, it advances like a threat that is still gaining ground. The writing of the play is based on the states of altered perception that can engender certain practices of breath and voice. The performers here attempt dialogue through saturated chants and throat songs, the function of which is to create a passage, a bridge between the visible and invisible, the dead and the living, the rational and the magical. An attempt to perform our wake-up and alert strategies.

Nina Santes began her career as a puppeteer.

Since 2008, she has performed on stage as a dancer in creations by Mylène Benoît, Myriam Gourfink, Catherine Contour, Pascal Rambert, Kevin Jean, Olivier Normand, Laurence Pagès,

Hélène Cathala, Perrine Valli, Éleonore Didier, Philippe Grandieux, Herman Diephuis, Lorenzo de Angelis, Emmanuel Eggermont…

She is the author of choreographic and musical stage works, among them : Désastre (2012), in collaboration with the composer Kasper Toeplitz, Transmorphonema, a co-creation with Daniel Linehan (Vif du Sujet SACD 2014), Self made man (2015, and A leaf, a co-creation with Celia Gondol (2016). In 2018 she created a piece for five performers : Hymen Hymne. The same year she received the SACD Prize Nouveau Talent Chorégraphique. In 2020, she created République Zombie, a piece for three performers, and (Though a silent orchestra, they were full of) ELEGIES, a performance for a child’s voice and a group of traditional singers, presented in Athens. In 2021, she is invited by Lyon Opera Ballet to create a solo for the dancer Elsa Monguillot : LA VENERINA.

She is Artiste Associée at Atelier de Paris CDCN, from 2019 to 2021.
