Stéphanie Aflalo
+ More infoTout doit disparaître
Third section of her “Philosophical playtimes”, Tout doit disparaître is a training ground for mourning, supported by Stoic axioms and practical exercises, literally putting at play the adage that ‘to philosophise is to learn how to die’.
Setting up a screen above the stage, Stéphanie interacts with her father’s video image, dispensing crumbs of antique wisdom from the television set she locked him up in. She will grow older with each show, while he will remain forever unchanged in the mini-DV tape.
Each time unique, the end of the world, wrote Derrida to describe the internal deflagration provoked by the loss of a loved one. Tout doit disparaître is an obstinated, derisory attempt to tame this impossible.
