Laissez-moi danser

A show that speaks for the voices we hear little or not at all. This monologue – carried by the voice and body of Nadia Ghadanfar – shares the life stories of women from the Arab world. It is the fruit of approaches, encounters and bits of life recounted between these women and the actress. Accompanied by the author Amandine Dhée, they have gathered astonishing and often painful confidences, experiences steeped in domination. A domination that imposes its prohibitions, that prevents freedom: the freedom to go out, to move, to dance… In every story we hear, however different, one man stands in the way of personal fulfillment. We find the weight of tradition legitimizing men’s desire to confine women. Male domination becomes the common thread running through the text, as the women recount their fears, their power struggles and the evocation of certain traditions.
