WORKSHOPS TO GET TOGETHER AT THE COMMON KITCHEN OF FIVES CAIL

Each year, the festival presents participatory initiatives that invite residents of the Lille metropolitan area to engage in a collective adventure alongside multidisciplinary and international artists. This year, the public is invited to meet the artists through workshops that combine cooking and artistic practices.

Cooking workshop: telling the interconnections between plants and industry, on June 12th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Common Kitchen, Fives Cail.
Based on listening to stories about plants that have crossed the industrial history of Fives Cail and the harvesting of these wild plants, participants will create a bite with the artists, which will be shared during the walk the following day.
Free and open to everyone aged 12 and up, with prior reservation required.

un homme parle, il a des pains accrochés sur sa ceinture

Around the performance Wayqeycuna by Tiziano Cruz:
Workshop Bread for the World, on June 15th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Common Kitchen, Fives Cail.
During this 3-hour workshop, participants are invited to build community by immersing themselves in an ancient practice combining culinary and artistic rituals. Together, we will bake bread that will become offerings to honor our deceased, which will be shared with the audience of the Wayqeycuna performance.

COME ON YOUR OWN OR AS A GROUP

Come as a group

Are you part of an association, from the social, medico-social, or cultural sector, a company via a works council (CSE), or a school? We are available to help design a personalized experience together.
We are available to create a spectator’s journey with you, present the program, and assist in selecting the shows. We can also answer any questions regarding the accessibility of venues and performances.
Before and during the festival, at the office or on-site, you can contact us or find us at the performance venues.

Come talk together

The Latitudes Contemporaines festival also aims to be a place of dialogue, exchange, and intersection between artists, audiences, associations, and cultural professionals. Various formats of encounters take place throughout the festival, offering a window into the artistic, social, and political questions of today:

TALKS AFTER THE SHOWS:
Throughout the festival, various formats of meetings and exchanges take place with the artists featured in the program. At the Maison Folie Wazemmes, these moments of encounter are held at the bar, in the friendly setting of the inn.
We’ll meet there:

  • After the performance of MONGA by Jéssica Teixeira on June 7th, for a discussion led by the students of the Master’s in Cultural Institutions Management at Sciences Po Lille.
  • After the performance of WAYQEYCUNA by Tiziano Cruz on June 17th

Other moments of exchange with the artistic teams enrich the festival’s program:

  • Around the performance Dispak Dispac’h by Patricia Allio and her book of the same name: a meeting with Patricia Allio will take place at the Librairie l’Affranchie on June 10th at 7:00 PM, in partnership with La Rose des Vents.
  • Around the performance Roméo + Juliette by Marcos Morau at the Lille Opera: an introduction to the performance will take place on June 14th at 5:30 PM and June 15th at 3:30 PM in the Grand Foyer of the Opera. After the performance on June 15th, the public will be invited to stay for a discussion with the artistic team.
  • After the performance Cette note qui commence au fond de ma gorge by Fabrice Melquiot at La Fileuse on June 17th, the public will be invited to stay for a discussion with the artistic team.

CŒURS CRITIQUES:

The team of Les Démêlées, a local collective of dance critics behind the journal of the same name, also leads ‘Cœurs Critiques’ sessions, open to everyone, around certain performances.
After the performance, the team from Les Démêlées and the Latitudes Contemporaines team meet with any interested spectators in a small group to discuss what they’ve just seen. Lighting, costumes, choreography… it’s up to everyone to articulate and highlight the key elements of the performance throughout the discussion. Far from a simple ‘I liked / I didn’t like,’ the critique here is a nuanced exchange shared by all. Artists are invited to join the group whenever they wish, to engage informally with the audience.
A record of these exchanges is then written as a critique, published by Les Démêlées.
This year, we’ll meet after the following performances:

  • The Cloud, Arkadi Zaides, on June 20th at Maison Folie Wazemmes,
  • Every-body-knows-what-tomorrow-brings-and-we-all-know-what-happened-yesterday, Mohamed Toukabri, on June 24th at Maison Folie Wazemmes,
  • FIRE OF EMOTIONS: NIAGARA 3000, Pamina de Coulon, on June 25th at Maison Folie Wazemmes.
