Jusqu’à présent, personne n’a ouvert mon crâne pour voir s’il y avait un cerveau dedans is a solo inspired by Wittgenstein’s De la certitude, which stages the revolt of my intelligence against the way, the philosopher teaches me, in which language – of which I, as an actress, have vowed to make a profession – bewitches it.
On set, there are two Stephanies: one on stage, the other on a TV screen. The second invites the first to engage with her in an enterprise of excessive clarification, consisting in establishing a meticulous, exhaustive, definitive inventory of what can be said and what cannot, of what has a meaning and what does not, with the support of situational scenarios and concrete examples, and with the modest aim of coming to terms with all the problems of philosophy.
Funny by dint of being dry, demented by excess of seriousness, this totalizing and impossible rationalist project will be carried out with humor, by virtue of the absurd, until its point of failure, leaving, in extremis, the space for songs and music.
What would a theater with Wittgenstein as its premise look like?
