Invisible Captivity

In 2013, Rada embarked on the Invisible Captivity project, blending photography and painting. This series highlighted the plight of women in Burqas, shedding light on the religious and cultural forces that impact their lives. By transforming selected verses from the Quran and Hadiths, often used to justify gender-based limitations, into fingerprint-like patterns on sculptures of women’s bodies and faces, the artist aimed to provoke thought about these limitations. The project was a profound experience that reshaped her understanding of women’s agency in Afghanistan and inspired her personal life goals.
