UNE ÉCHAPPÉE

Fairytale show with almost nothing, from three years old.

Because the “because” of adults does not have a response to all the “why’s” of children, let’s try an escape to the Imaginary.

With “Une échappée”, Julie Nioche opens the breaches in a narration, where the “why’s” don’t find a response, or find several, some of which hold the marvelous, the inexplicable. In a choreography that drifts between material installation and dance, the objects and gestures combine in funny movements of our imagination. “Une échappée” places spectators of any age in the face of our desire to understand the world and our jubilation at discovery. The choreography, the objects, the sounds, the artifacts, and the lights invent a universe made of burlesque fairytales, of poems and humor.

Biography(s)

Julie Nioche is a dancer, choreographer and osteopath. In 2007, with collaborators from different professional backgrounds, she participated in the creation of A.I.M.E. – Association d’Individus en Mouvements Engagés. Since then, the association has been supporting her artistic projects and working on the dissemination of knowledge about the body in society.

Julie Nioche works on dance as a place of research to make visible her sensitivity and her imagination. Each creation is a project of experimentation, which pays particular attention to the process, to the path leading to the realization. The pieces are questions that offer the space for debate and exchange. Dance is a meeting place.

Julie Nioche’s choreographies are far from any narrative exercise. She works with the history of professional or non-professional bodies; thus dance exposes itself to living bodies, erasing the ordinary limits of the stage. Her works start from an attention to the imaginary which builds our identity and our sensibility: all these images which make possible or impossible our projections, our movements, our ideas and our acts.
She also gives a radical place to scenography, music and light, which are constructed simultaneously with the dance to make this sensitivity visible through other points of view. Like an ecosystem, all the elements are both autonomous and interdependent, which creates a particular sensitive listening.
Her goal is to create works that she calls “environmental”, that is to say, that seek to envelop the spectators enough to awaken their empathy through their own sensations, their own imaginations and memories.

She involves the dancers with whom she collaborates in sensory dances that engage their intimacy in the movement, which is, in her eyes, the forgotten dimension of the political fabrication of bodies.
