Prometheus’ Echo

Prometheus’ Echo is an incandescent duo for a dancer and an acoustic artist, in which dance, noise music and the spoken word create a shared attention space where the solid and the ephemeral, the fragile and the intense – can coexist without tension.

In Greek mythology, Prometheus is the god who steals the sacred fire to give it to the humans. To punish him, Zeus condemns him to eternal suffering: each night: an eagle comes to devour his liver, which grows back each day. Konstantinos Rizos and Enrico Malatesta use the myth as a starting point for research on techniques from which we inherit, the bodies we inhabit and the movements which we repeat. In resonance with the raw spaces of Fives Cail, the body of the dancer functions like fireworks: both celebratory and sacrificial, consumed in the flame of hope and the violence of our time. The duo, driven by resonances and friction, channels resistant pulses which ebb and flow into slow combustion.
