In œ, the choreographer Pierre Pontvianne invites on stage seven dancers of different backgrounds and ages, exploring together what memory is made of.
How do memories tend to dissolve, transform and decline? The materials of this dance are movements that have been repeated, rehearsed and refined over and over again. It summons up the past, re-actualising it in an infinite chain of sensations that rise to the surface of the body. Certain things are invented in the moment, but there are also gaps, absences and hollows… The title œ condenses in its ligature the fugacity and strength of the links that draw and hollow out the voids we leave; these links that run through us and make us disseminators.

Biography(s)
Winner of the Prix de Lausanne 1999, Pierre Pontvianne has worked with various international companies and has been involved in numerous choreographic projects on the European freelance scene. He founded the company PARC in 2004 in Saint-Étienne.
Since 2012 Pierre Pontvianne’s work has appeared in many international festivals (Lyon Dance Biennale, June Events in Paris, Les Brigitines in Brussels, Antigel in Geneva, Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales of Seine Saint-Denis…) and on major stages of the contemporary dance world (Maison de la Danse in Lyon, Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, La Comédie de Saint-Étienne – CDN…).
Over the 2023-24 season, the PARC company is continuing to tour œ, created and presented this summer at the Montpellier Danse Festival, as well as Motifs, Kernel and Janet on the roof.
Pierre Pontvianne has been an associate artist at l’Atelier de Paris / CDCN from 2021 and will be until 2024.
Pierre Pontvianne says about his own work: “I am neither looking for meaning nor surprise, I am looking for the place where the two collide.”
