Méditation

It’s like the end of the schoolkids’ recess, or a STOP sign on the highway to the future, or … Stéphanie Aflalo, Jérôme Chaudière and Grégoire Schaller share with us a slew of ideas about this and so much else about what death is, in the garden of the Médiathèque Jean Levy.

Mixing theatre with philosophy, and playing with words which deal with death: with Méditation, Stéphanie Aflalo offers a short piece in the long line of her work on the impasses of discursive language. A small collection of metaphors about death, mixing the most harped-upon expressions which have emerged from literature, philosophy and even everyday speech with the most unexpected metaphors on the same subject. Joining her in this headbutting against the constraints of language are Grégoire Schaller, a performer and choreographer, and the actor Jérôme Chaudière. Torn between their love for unbridled silliness and their focus on the serious, Jérôme, Grégoire and Stéphanie face off against that which renders the whole enterprise necessary as well as ridiculous: death.
