Somewhere between the sensuality of Cigarettes After Sex and the onirism of Beach House, the Breakfast Club is wonderfully named as it evokes sweet Sunday mornings.
Biography(s)
The Breakfast Club (a duo from Lille born in 2017), develops a fogged pop, the perfect soundtrack for a trip for two, behind a cracked windshield: Léonie Young’s voice would take care of the motorway perspectives, to make it rain or to make it light, while Julien Puyau’s post-rock guitars would sketch all the shades of a sky, the luminous bands of cities in the horizon. In the cotton of the cockpit, sometimes hover some notes of synthesizers, sometimes also silences which say a lot. Because behind the apparent softness of the compositions (somewhere between Beach House and The XX), we guess a certain urgency, even a worry in The Breakfast Club: where does the road we just took lead?
