Fire of emotions : Maledizione
What connects plastic, the Middle Ages, stalagmites and curses? MALEDIZIONE, the epic piece by the performance artist Pamina de Coulon, will give us a couple of clues, but only if we agree to leave our preconceptions at the door.
She gives us the recipe for her piece: “start by walking on eggs, then open the window wide to let in the wind carrying pollen and toxic substances.” MALEDIZIONE is the fifth section of the saga she calls FIRE OF EMOTIONS, a series of spoken essays, during which the performer releases a methodical yet poetic torrent of stories, references and questions. This time she talks about the Middle Ages and the “Now Age,” mentioning the controlling of women’s bodies and the importance of knowing what the stories tell us. She also talks about the plastic we all have inside us, about the mystical visionary poet and nun Hildegarde de Bingen, about Mary Poppins, and the choice to not have children. MALEDIZIONE looks for a way out of the individualizing imaginations which suffocate us: she creates a space of fluid empathy, and invites us to build queer ecologies, chosen genealogies and desirable futures.
