102 & NGAIO — DJ SET

As part of Printemps à la Gare Saint Sauveur with lille3000, Latitudes Contemporaines takes over the Gare Saint Sauveur for two evenings of fiery DJ sets and a roller party. This all-female line-up, goes from coupé-décalé to batida and dancehall, takes place over a free weekend open to all! To set the pace for your Saturday evening and keep the weekend going, we’re delighted to welcome DJ sets from two artists brimming with talent and energy: NGAIO and 102 !

102: 8pm > 9:30pm
Immersed in sound system culture for some years now, 102 likes to play with eras and sounds with a strong kick and airy melodies. After honing her skills in Brittany, she moved to Paris to take up residence at Les Disquaires with her “Heels Up” sound. Open to musical fusions and always on the lookout for something new, her sets feature a musical richness with no stylistic barriers.

NGAIO: 9:30 pm > 11:30 pm

A singer-DJ-performer, NGAIO can go from a killer DJ set to complex jazz harmonies with a voice that could have come out of the 1940s, and lyrics that touch the heart. We loved her so much in 2022 that we’re inviting her back to Latitudes Contemporaines: at the Gare Saint Sauveur, she’ll be sending out a mix of sounds from around the world and messages that matter, blending Afro, Baile, Dancehall, Reggaeton, UK Funky and maybe even a little Drum & Bass for all you ravers out there!

Biography(s)

NGAIO
A force to be reckoned with, NGAIO is more than just a singer. This powerhouse of a performer can switch from a killer DJ set to delivering intricate jazz harmonies with a voice that could have stepped out of the 1940s, to heart hitting spoken word. It’s rare to find a performer with this many strings to their bow. NGAIO’s versatility as an artist has seen her moving audiences to standing ovations in St George’s Hall with a soul striking vocals, spark tears though truth laden lyrics, destroy dancefloors with selections old and new that take crowds on a journey of nostalgia and discovery and sometimes combine all three!

So far in 2023, NGAIO has played milestone gigs such as; hosting and playing the opening DJ set at Boiler Room in Bristol, Keep Hush as part of the Booty Bass Takeover and supporting D Double E, Lowkey, and Bugzy Malone at the WikiLeaks event organised by Shangri-La. This year sees her performing at 14 festivals, including programming and running the Big Top Takeover at Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here Festival with the diverse dance crew Shade Cartel. Shindig Festival, Love Saves The Day, Shambala, Tolpuddle and many more. 2023 also sees her producing a Booty Bass Takeover at St Pauls’s Carnival with the first female/non-binary run soundsystem. As well as producing and hosting her monthly radio show on Soho Radio broadcast in London and New York, this year she’s also guested on: NTS Radio, Orkoro Radio, BBC Radio 1, and Kiss FM.
As well as performing, NGAIO founded Booty Bass as a space for women and non binary folk to come together and play big, bad, unapologetic bangers. Since its conception in 2018 it’s become a space that promotes an appreciation of different cultures and sounds from across the world where dancing and laughing is key. Since it’s inception, they have run takeovers at major UK festivals and run their own events. In 2022 NGAIO launched Obsidian in collaboration with Shade Cartel – a micro venue that launched at Boomtown and will be seen at Intermission, Glastonbury and We Out Here festival in 2023.
