WALK OF HONOUR (پیاده روی افتخار )
To mark World Refugee Day, Kubra Khademi is inviting women to join her on a 12 hour walk to honour their stories.
It’s a dance, a demonstration, a marathon, a journey. Kubra Khademi is an Afghan artist, performer and feminist. The act of walking is at the heart her performance practice. At Latitudes Contemporaines, on 20 June 2024, she is inviting women to join her for a day of collective walking, to honour the routes that refugee women have walked from their homeland to the place where they arrived.
“A day of walking to honour the decision to leave, what is lost and what we seek, the indocility that leads to flight, the courage of a new beginning elsewhere, to honour the freedom that we lost and the freedom that we have. A day to honour those who were forced to flee. Where are we now? Let’s walk together. – Kubra Khademi
The walk will start at Maison Folie Wazemmes, Lille at 7.30 am. The finish will be between 7pm and 7.30pm at the same venue.
